Relax in the Heart of Nature

In 1994 Petra came to Cape Town, South Africa for a legal traineeship having already done her undergraduate degree in Germany. Petra roomed in a double storey house in Gardens and met Kim who was working for a varsity friend, the landlord of the establishment. A lifelong friendship was formed which involved visits in South Africa and Germany together with partners, husband and children over the course of 32 years.

 

Fast forward to 2023 - Petra visited Kim in the Karoo town of Graaff-Reinet. This trip resulted in an investment in a property together. Later in 2025, Petra and two other friends joined Kim on The Strandloper Hike, a hike that Kim had twice enjoyed before.  On the recovery day in Cintsa Kim planned to look around at property and thereby fulfil a dream of owning a house by the sea. Petras interest in joining this idea was piqued by experiencing the beautiful and safe coastline for herself.

 

That Cintsa visit started a chain of events which resulted in Petra and Kim acquiring in December 2025 a lovely large sustainable home suitable for establishing their guesthouse, "Amaza" (meaning "waves" in Xhosa). The house ticks all the boxes and has the most incredible panoramic view of the ocean.
